GORE-TEX® 2 Layer Jacket - HUDSON

Lets face it - Finding anything decent in Gore-Tex above 3XL is beyond challenging at ANY price point ANYWHERE ! so I decided to take a punt.
Delivery was lightning fast, initial inspection thoughts were "This is high quality manufactured garment".
Material is quite stiff and theres a good weight to it (will take some battering) , but not a single hanging thread to be seen and seams look very well taped (excellent quality control) . The 4XL neck was a tiny bit tight for my 22" collar, but still comfortable and will keep the rain out for sure. the sizing permits plenty of layers underneath too.

So is it waterproof ? - answer = resounding YES! I was out on the South Wales hills in a mega downpour the next day. Outer fabric is VERY water repellent (water beads up and drains off like a waxed car) and the extended length was a major benefit over other "jackets" I own. Hood is good and pocket placement well thought out / useful.

So where did that 0.1 point get deducted?

Well, there is no wire in the hood to keep the peak cap in shape in high winds / heavy rain (easily rectified - I stripped some twin and earth mains cable and double backed the open ends). Also, the two outside front pockets have no zips over them (just large storm flaps) and are themselves a little shallow - with the overall length of the garment , it might have been better to make them deeper so that things like keys dont fall out when you sit down in a vehicle? In a REAL downpour if you put your hands in your pockets rain will naturally run down your sleeves into them - but that is true of every jacket not just this one!. The placement of the velcro wrist straps could allow for a little more tightness. But I acknowledge that at the price point I am REALLY Nit picking! and those 4.9 starts are WELL deserved - this jacket will in all probability outlast me by a country mile! Great product in big sizes - if you are the larger chap or not, this purchase is a no brainer !

Great jacket at a super price.
I'll be using this for fishing but, it's more than smart enough for walking the dog etc. I'm an XL and I would say the XL size is very generous, enough room for other gear underneath.
I never thought I'd get a Goretex jacket at this price...Cheers

I bought this to, hopefully replace a gortex coat I bought many years ago. If it lasts half as well as my old one I’ll be happy. 😃.
